Recently I sold my house and purchased a bigger house with mortgage top-up. Due to the number of late interest payments made leading to poor credit record with the previous bank, I was told that mortgage top-up would not be possible. Furthermore, although I’m a New Zealand permanent resident holder I have little income and although my husband can support me financially I was told that his overseas income cannot be accepted by the bank. I have dealt with Westpac for the last ten years and with my interest rate increasing while my income declining over the years I have applied for a mortgage to buy a smaller home. Westpac had told me that although my income has decreased over the years because I was able to pay my mortgage on time I was able to get an approval. On top of this with Kim & Co’s help we were able to receive unexpected cash back of $2000. We were simply hoping for an amount to cover half of the legal cost.
